Maritza was our guide. She made it quite easy, enjoyable and educative. It’s an unique experience. Two hour glacier walk was quite comfortable and fun. Gift shop ladies were quite helpful and respectful.Driving on the off-road from the main road needs to be little careful.It’s worth spending that much money and yes don’t forget to generously tip the guides for their hard effort.Thank you Glacier Tours!! You will have a great experience at fair prices for both adults and children. The guides are experienced and fun, and you can go with kids confidently. Highly recommended. These tours are run by the landowners, who take you directly onto the glaciers.

Tour guide was incredible great views

Our tour guide, Jason, was exceptional. He showed great patience and was highly helpful in answering our questions and assisting us throughout the tour.

We had a great time on the matanuska glacier. Nick was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and showed us some great features. We had a "good moving " group that enabled us to hike up to enjoy better views.Crampons are provided.I highly recommend to do this tour. We booked on the same day end of May.

Amazing amazing amazing! Our guide Jason was fantastic. Gave us plenty of information and had a great energy throughout. He also took so much care to take us through easier routes as we had a couple of people with bad knees in our group. We truly appreciated the slower pace tour, so my mom could have this once in a lifetime experience, thanks Jason & co!The glacier itself was mind blowing, especially the little pool up there. Fantastic visit from the front office to the tour end. Sabin at the front office is fantastic and full and enthusiastic she loves what she does and it shows. Ask her about her diesel Beetle and the story behind it.Rine(Catherine) is an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable and eager to help and teach.Highly recommend this tour!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Just show up with warm clothes and boots and they take care of the rest! We learned so much about the glacier and got to appreciate its size, beauty, and activity up close. Our guide was super kind and knowledgeable. The organization is kid-friendly and we found the 2 hour hike very manageable with elementary age children. My only warning is that you definitely need a 4WD vehicle to get there… the road to get to the set up building is an adventure experience itself!

Sam was our guide. He did a great job explaining and kept the tour exciting. I would definitely recommend this tour. Nothing to strenuous, a few steep climbs going up the glacier. They do provide cleats and snow pants.

Had an absolutely incredible experience with Glacier Tours! The views were breathtaking—it felt like stepping onto an alien ice planet. Our guide, Nick, was fantastic; he was incredibly knowledgeable about the glacier and more than happy to answer all our questions.A word of caution for future visitors: We unfortunately slid off the road while driving on Glacier Park Rd. We were very lucky that the staff managed to tow us out. Please be extra careful and drive slow on your way in!

Very beautiful place and a great guide — the tour itself was really enjoyable. The only downside was that tips were strongly expected. When we paid for the tour, the cashier asked how much cash we wanted to withdraw for tips and mentioned that $20 per person is usually recommended. At the end of the tour we were reminded about tipping again. Considering the tour already costs $160, it felt a bit strange to have tips pushed so strongly. If staff feel underpaid, it might be better to address that internally rather than putting pressure on guests.

My Glacier Tour guide "Morgan" was amazing. She was very knowledgeable, attentive and professional. She made the experience that much better. I would definitely recommend the tour to anyone that has never seen a Glacier up close. Yet alone get to walk on and through one. Thank you Morgan for an amazing experience.

Johnson was our guide and he was truly amazing! Took great pictures of everyone in our group and was extremely kind!!! He took extra pictures and videos and even brought his own drone for us!! 10/10 recommend!

This was an amazing tour to matanushka glacier in alska. I was disappointed because the helicopter glacier tour was canceled due to weather. My fiance and I had limited time in Anchorage Alaska before leaving. So I couldn't risk wasting another day so we booked the glacier tour to matanushka glacier with Glacier Tours and they were amazing. We drove to matanushka glacier from Anchorage that took about 2 1/2 hrs on Glen hwy which was easy to drive on. When we got there they immediately guided us and got us going to the glacier. They guided us the whole way and explained everything along the way. It was amazing and beautiful.

Our family of 5 had an amazing experience! Our children range from 5-12. Our guide made sure the hike was enjoyable for all parties involved. Small children (ice slides), preteens (ice caves and fun facts), and adults, alike! Additionally, we went in December 2025 during a week where it was -20's F. We are not accustomed to that kind of weather living in the coastal southeast USA. The tour was so fun and we were moving enough that we didn't hear a single complaint from our children! Truly incredible! Would love to do this again!

Morgan was our guide and she was absolutely phenomenal. I loved every second of the tour. She was informative, funny, and genuinely cared about the guests the entire time. I would 100% recommend this tour, especially in the winter. Make sure to follow the guidelines on their website and come prepared—it makes all the difference. This tour truly is for everyone, and the sights are incredible. The glacier was absolutely amazing. Learning about the history of the glacier and the science behind the ice made the experience even more memorable. There were plenty of photo opportunities, and we were given ample time to take advantage of them. The rest of the staff was incredibly helpful and got us on the tour without a hitch. It’s clear the entire team works very hard to provide a fantastic experience from start to finish.

This was my second time doing the glacier tour and it did not disappoint. The company offers a really great military discount and the guides are knowledgeable and extremely friendly. I took my parents who were visiting Alaska from out of town for the first time and they were thrilled with the experience. A great way to see the beauty of Alaska!

Two-hour solid walk on the snow and ice, the view was just astonishing. Our guide, Jason, was very nice and knowledgeable about the glaciers. He took very beautiful photos of us and also brought back our lost item. Highly recommend.

Another world! Amazing!

Such an amazing time exploring the glacier. We went in December and the weather was great (cold but not windy). Our tour guide Thomas did an amazing job answering questions and keeping us entertained!

We had a blast with our guide Elisa! Learned alot about the glacier. We had fun and laugh during our adventure to a different spots of the glacier. It's really amazing! We'll come back to try for different activities next time. I highly recommend this tours! 🙌❄️

Hiked the glacier with Petra and it was breathtaking. She was an amazing guide, keeping our kids state while giving us the most amazing tour and hike of the glacier. We went in ice caves and crevices, walked across the frozen river, and spent hours exploring. The glacier is beautiful and a trip our family will never forget. Thank you Petra!

Worth every penny

Kids and adults had fun. The guides were great. Decent price for alaska residents and kids for what it is. They have a great setup and it was too easy to see the glacier with them.

Great trip. Johnson was the best guide, best. He was super knowledgeable and super fun. Takes his time, makes sure everyone has a great experience and knows how to create great photos on your phone. So worth the trip. So worth the trip.

The tour was very interesting, my only feedback is the high price and the group size, it would have been nicer with a smaller group (we were around 15).

Absolutely amazing adventure! We had family visiting and decided to try this tour out, and I’m so glad we did. Booking was easy; we booked via text, and the company was extremely responsive and provided all the details we needed to be successful. Our group of 6 (5 adults + 1 18-month old) enjoyed ourselves and our guide, Naomi. I unfortunately forgot my coat at home, but they had coats and pants to borrow. They also have REI carriers that we took advantage of for my son, and multiple restrooms are available at the start/end of the tour.

Best walk ever. Jason was delightful and knowledgeable and views were amazing.

Hike a glacier Great experience with our guide Johnson. He encouraged those in the group with different levels of comfort. The hike was beautiful, lots of opportunities for photos. We were so glad we had this adventure.

Definitely a MUST see & do adventure!! The tour guides are very knowledgeable and friendly! They made the experience worth while! I did this tour on a whim and let me tell you, I'm so glad I did it. If you have the opportunity, you won't regret joining the hike either! They are very patient, helpful, and understanding toward people with injuries. 😊

This was once in a lifetime experience. The agency is fabulous and very helpful! Our guide Jason was phenomenal. He went above and beyond to show us and guide us throughout the hike. Loved it and would recommend to anyone who is interested to experience this.

Unspeakable joy!

The glaciers are beautiful, and altho the tour guide was very informative I felt she was a tad rude. She wanted to keep the group moving and it felt rushed. I felt she was biased and catered to certain people who she believed would give her a better tip. I would do the tour again with a different tour company unfortunately.

We couldn't describe our experience as anything less than fantastic. During our trip to Alaska, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the Matanuska Glacier. It holds the distinction of being the largest glacier in the United States accessible by car. The prospect of witnessing this magnificent glacier firsthand filled us with excitement. This Glacier tour offered us a great service, allowing us to safely explore the glacier icy expanse. With the guidance of experts, we slowly walked into the heart of the glacier. Navigating through the icy terrain, we were surrounded by towering ice mountains, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Despite the cold, the beauty of the Matanuska Glacier was a truly unforgettable experience that we will never forget. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alaska.

Super recommend taking the tour of Matanuska glacier! We had a really great time there guided by Johnson in March! He is so nice, funny and shared a lot of knowledge and cares with us. We got so impressed that we decided to hold our wedding ceremony there. The ceremony was also a great sucess and unforgettable experience. We all so appreciated the help from the entire crew of glacier tours.

What a once in a lifetime opportunity. One of my favorite memories of visiting Alaska. The guide Petra helped our group with all of the little tough slippery spots. She was so knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you Glacier tours for creating an everlasting memory for us!

Incredible excitement! If you're in Alaska this is a must!!! I was prepared though so bring your heated vest, toe warmers and hand warmers. Total trip was about 1.5-2 hours. Love every moment!!

Worth the visit A wonderful time walking around the glacier. Our guide, Misty, was excellent.She told us about the changes to the glacier throughout the year. Very informative and definitely worth the visit. The tip was added to the price of the tour.

My family had a spectacular day on Matanuska Glacier. Our guide made it extra special for my son’s birthday. He was great with kids, very positive, encouraging, engaging, and fun. The temp was below 0F but we stayed warm by moving around. I’m already dreaming about another trip to the glacier. Thank you!

What a great experience! Way more exploration than we expected. Naomi was a wonderful guide and we would book with her any day. Only one negative bit of feedback. Ensure that other guides do not make disparaging or derogatory comments about non-English speaking groups. Even if they don't know you are being rude, we do.

We took a glacier tour in Early January and it was absolutely amazing! We were provided with crampons for our hike as well. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable as well as kind. He was our personal photographer but also let us enjoy the glacier for as long as we wanted. The staff who assisted us both before and after our hike were very nice as well. I can’t recommend this amazing tour enough!

This was definitely a bucket list experience! The views were to die for! The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly! They provide you with helmets and crampons to walk on the ice. Be prepared for your shoes to get dirty! Would highly recommend this tour!

Six of us, ranging in age from 7-52, went on the tour in mid-November. It was an amazing tour & Petra was very knowledgeable and helpful. My seven year old grandson’s feet became too cold and he had to stop. Kendra immediately had someone come from the office to retrieve he & I to bring us back. Kendra helped us when we returned and was SO KIND. She even offered to take us back out to do the final loop of the tour (the prettiest loop” once his feet were warmed and he was doing better. She went above and beyond. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, not only because it’s an amazing once in a lifetime experience, but because they truly care. I cannot thank them enough for the tour, the experience, and the help. Thank you so much!

Tour guide Lucas was very knowledgeable about the geology beneath the glacier that cause it to behave the way it does.

He made sure all members of our family and the group as a whole we're well taken care of during our walk across and around the glacier.

We got to walk down into a recently discovered ice cave that had been underwater all summer as well as step out onto a frozen pool near the main upheaval of ice.

The tour is easy if you're in semi decent shape. Our 6 year old walked it by himself without issues.

Since it progresses at a rate of about 8" every day, what we saw today will likely be different than what will be seen next month.

Our whole family loved this, and stayed engaged for the 2 hour hike. It was the best mixture of safe but exhilarating. I would highly recommend this adventure. We walked on, in, and through the glacier, while our tour guide taught us the science and history of it.

It is so surreal to be up there on the ice and just see everything below you and just the mass and the water in the main area of the glacier was incredible. We also got to drink glacier water which is super tasty, don’t forget your water bottle. I highly recommend this tour it was really worth the money.

This hike is one of the first things we did on landing in Alaska. We loved it so much and highly recommend everyone to do this hike. We experienced the glacier for the first time and it felt surreal.

We were provided with crampons, helmets, hiking sticks for safety. Our hike was completed within 2.5 hrs and we took the last tour of the day. We felt we should have taken the hike in the morning rather than evening because at some places we felt we were rushed to complete the hike. Me & my husband like to enjoy the views for a longer time frame instead of rushing. Maybe because of that we felt like that. Otherwise the entire experience is amazing. Our guide answered all our questions and helped us in clicking pictures too. Take as many pictures & videos as possible whenever you find time because you can’t come back to the same spot later in your hike. We also got to drink glacier water (don’t forget to take an empty water bottle), eat glacier ice, and saw an ice cave.

And one suggestion to anyone who has never done hiking or anyone who has balancing issues or first time on ice, I highly recommend taking hiking sticks from them that they offer even though the hike is not that difficult.

Amazing tour!!. Chris was our guide and was very knowledgeable. I felt safe following him through the glacier and we had so much fun. We got to drink Glacier water…. so bring a container to fill up if you want to. They provided all the necessary equipment, so you can also pack light. We got beautiful pictures and memories to last a lifetime! Do not pass on this tour, you will regret it.

Super great experience with the glacier! In this 1.5 hour tour we got the chance to walk on the glacier and take a closer look of it. The tour guide is really nice. They provided ice chains for boots and will teach you how to better walk on the ice and avoid slippery. Very beautiful scene and unique experience.

Not far off Route 1, there is a check in and a gift shop at the entrance about a mile from the turnoff. They were well staffed by friendly employees. Restrooms were available.

After check in it's a short drive to the tent to receive your equipment and meet with your guide.

The Tour/Hike lasted about 2.5 hours and it was magical. To see the Glacier is one thing to walk on it is something else. To see the site and the power of ice and water is incredible.

This is something not to be missed.

What an incredible experience! This hike was honestly one of the best I've ever been on. They provided us with helmets, poles, crampons. Our guide was not only friendly but also a total glacier expert. We saw crevasses, black ice, and even a snow cave! Oh, and guess what? We got to sip on glacier water – so refreshing! Our guide doubled as a photographer, snapping awesome pics for us. Walking on the glacier, surrounded by that breathtaking view – just WOW. Highly, highly recommend this!

This experience was a little scary at times but amazing at the same time! Shay was our guide and he was fantastic! When we reached a difficult spot he was there to help us. Plus he (of course) knew tons of cool facts about the Glacier. Pro tip: they say it's only 10 degrees colder on the Glacier than not, but if it's windy it feels colder so depending on your tolerance be prepared. Also bring a empty water bottle so you can catch and drink so Glacier water easily. Last thing, bring a baggy to grab some Glacier mud at the end of the tour. It makes a great mineral mud mask!

The guided tour here was really nice. Everything was planned out really well and we got to see beautiful sights. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and she really helped those in our group who needed help.

The infrastructure they built for the tours was also really cool, and they gave us helmets and spikes for our shoes which made it really easy to walk on the glacier. I’m eager to come back and go atving or ice climbing on this glacier with the same company

Awesome tour! I’m a local and never visited the glacier before so I took a friend who was visiting and it was incredible! Our guide, Shae, was awesome! Very personable and knowledgable, and helped anyone who needed an extra hand to make it up the ice. Spikes are provided as well as helmet, so all you need to bring is a good attitude! We even saw someone in an off-road wheelchair out there on the glacier, which was awesome! Don’t hesitate to take a tour!

Once in a lifetime experience! Hiking Matanuska Glacier was the highlight of our 7-day Alaska vacation.! The views were incredible and our tour guide, Ethan, was very knowledgeable. We did a little photo shoot for my friend’s 30th and our guide was very flexible and helpful! We enjoyed the breathtaking views and had the opportunity to drink glacier water! 15/10 recommend.

Great time Great experience! Learned so much from our guide Melissa. The lady managing the area had everything down like a well oiled machine. We initially felt a little rushed to get started, but understood that we were trying to join a group to keep our wait time down. They provided crampons which were a must and as a 56 year old with knee issues I really appreciated the fact that I brought along some hiking poles. Dressing in layers was brilliant because we were freezing when we first arrived and burning up when we left. If I only had one negative to say we did feel pressure to tip our guide, even though we certainly would’ve done so regardless. I just don’t like pressure when it comes to tipping. Perhaps it was a kind manager looking out for her employees in a world where fewer people tip, but it’s just not some thing that I like.

We had a great time walking on the glacier ice all through and observing natural glacier landscape. Worth the fee, and understood why this tour has to be guided, as the landscape is tricky to walk through and there are dangerous parts but we were well guided and felt safe to experience the hike all through even with a 16 month old toddler.

Best thing to do in Anchorage We went on Memorial Day. What a fantastic experience. We started out and walk to the first level. Took a bunch of pictures and then we thought we were done. As it turned out, we ended up walking all the way to the top! We safely saw a huge crevice (sp?). The top of the world. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained how the glacier was formed, all the pinnacles, the dirt, rocks, etc. very excellent. Highly recommend!
