During the guided tour, you can walk on the glacier. The tours are about 2-3 hours long. You will walk from the guide shack out to the terminus of the Matanuska Glacier.

How far is Matanuska Glacier from Palmer?

The Matanuska Glacier is about a one-hour drive from downtown Palmer. Always give yourself extra time to get to your destination.

You will walk from the lodge out to the terminus of the Matanuska Glacier.

How far is Matanuska Glacier from Palmer?

The Matanuska Glacier is about a one-hour drive from downtown Palmer. Always give yourself extra time to get to your destination.

How difficult is the walking and terrain?

In the winter, we can accommodate all ability levels, even those who are unable to walk.

We can accommodate in the summer as well with custom tours but please know the terrain is different; it is uneven ice covered with gravel and rocks.

All age levels are welcome on our tours year-round.
